Like it or not, there is a craze for composite bonding and other forms of cosmetic dentistry.
With celebrities donning bright white Hollywood style smiles and social media glamourising the trend.
People are turning to dental practices to achieve the same ‘Whiter than White’ perfectly straight smile.
Having these treatments as an option at your clinic is a good move. It’ll pay to train at being skilled in this treatment area and to bring composite bonding to your demographic.
Here are 3 reasons why you shouldn’t miss out on having Composite Bonding on your service list:
-
Your patients could end up at another clinic
If a patient wants bonding, they will find somewhere to have it done. If it is not with you, it’ll be with someone else. You will then inevitably miss out on a treatment, but possibly even a regular patient too. After having bonding at my clinic they tend to opt to stay with me after for regular maintenance.
Very often, clients then choose to have their regular dentistry with us too.
-
It could lead to other treatments
The best results for bonding cases, in my opinion, are when teeth are well aligned and so bonding is more minimal and therefore more natural. Because this is the case, treatment with aligners or orthodontic treatment may be necessary before moving onto composite. Approached in the right way, with it being in the patients’ best interest and to gain best results, treatment plans can vary. After the plan is finished, of-course your work needs to be maintained. This can then lead to a life-long patient, or a plan patient. In my experience, treatments such as these have been good practice growers.

It’s a minimally invasive way to transform a smile
With many wanting to transform their smile, this is a perfect way to do it in a minimally invasive way. Of course, it does require maintenance and care and this absolutely should be reinforced to them before they go ahead.
But, with tempting prices abroad for very damaging treatments (and this becoming popular among Brits), an option such as composite bonding at your clinic in the UK may save them from being enticed into a potential for a tooth related nightmare.

Personally, I like a smile transformation to be natural and in keeping with the patients features. When done like this, composite bonding can look very good. These images are examples of the work featured by The Smile Doctor (@doctorrajen). With the right home care, regular maintenance with a good hygienist and the right equipment (I choose EMS to carry out GBT as Plus powder is effective yet extremely gentle on composite), bonding can look fantastic for an extended period of time.
